“Out in the country past the city limit sign, well, there’s a honky-tonk near the county line…” This may as well have been the introduction for Helen when she moved from Michigan to attend Texas Christian University. And, wouldn’t you have it, it was here where she would embrace the honky tonk lifestyle and go and boot scoot with Hawk – the man she would later have a cozy western wedding with at Robert Carr Chapel and Stillwater Meadow.
About Robert Carr Chapel
Robert Carr Chapel is located on the campus of TCU and is a landmark for the Fort Worth and Horned Frog community. While it’s been hosting events for TCU since 1954, it was recently renovated in 2016 to allow more accessibility and now sports a TCU-friendly purple aisle. For these two TCU alumni, still filled with school spirit, this Robert Carr Chapel wedding ceremony was perfect for them.
About Stillwater Meadow
Stillwater Meadow is a reception hall and wedding venue near Dallas in Aledo, Tx. We love the story behind this venue because it really does capture the heart of Texas. The framing of the buildings, the stained glass windows, and all other amenities have been touched by the Goldbergs – who build this venue in 2016. The two-story reception venue is large enough to accommodate up to 250 guests, and it highlights exposed wooden beams with grand chandeliers. It’s the perfect place for a cozy wedding in Texas.
Helen and Hawks Western Wedding
Typically when you use the word “theme,” it is implied that everything was planned to look like something you normally don’t have around. To say the two of them had a western themed wedding would be a lie. Their wedding wasn’t “themed.” It was – dare I say – authentic to them.
Memorable Moments
Not many people can say they married at the same place they fell in love. For Helen and Hawk to get married on their college campus was special enough, but it’s how they brought their family into the arrangement that made it grand.
During most catholic wedding ceremonies, there is usually a vocalist who will sing “Ave Maria.” In this case, it was Hawk’s own brother who sang for them – and he blew our minds! It turns out that country and opera go hand-in-hand.
There were other special moments that played into the grandeur of their wedding. We watched as Helen and her mom and sisters prayed together over their wedding and marriage.
Helen stunned everyone with her custom white boots with the wedding date on them.
And who wouldn’t be in love with how sweet the First Dance was?
As Texans ourselves, Zoey and I love the stories we are able to tell through wedding photography. We love the planning process (and sometimes acting as a wedding planner), creating wedding day schedules, and dreaming with our couples about their big day. The one thing that always…ALWAYS blows our mind, is how invested we get into the lives of the people we work with.
