Nathan and I love all of the weddings we are privileged to photograph at one of the top wedding venues in the United States: The French Farmhouse in Collinsville, Texas! We also believe we have the best couples to work with – and Victoria and Ty are among the top ❤️

We’re so excited to share our experience of the day we had with them and show off how beautiful they both were are.

About the French Farmhouse Venue

The French Farmhouse Wedding Venue is one of our favorite wedding venues in Dallas. Opening in 2020, it is located north of Dallas and set in 56-acres featuring beautiful oak trees, a covered bridge and a 3-acre lake in the Mountain Springs Community on the edge of Lake Ray Roberts. One of the more recent additions to the venue, in May of 2022, is the Chapel, which features large windows and beautiful natural light!

Ty and Victoria’s Wedding At the French Farmhouse Venue

Vietnamese Wedding Traditions

You know how people say, “opposites attract?” Well, that couldn’t be any more true for Ty and Victoria. While Victoria is incredibly bubbly and outgoing, we have Ty – who is a bit more reserved. In essence, the two equal each other out wonderfully.

As Nathan and I came to know them, it became apparent that featuring Victoria’s Vietnamese heritage was incredibly important. From wearing the traditional Vietnamese Ao Dai during the reception and participating in the tradition of chào bàn, which translates to a greeting table. They even played games and exchanged gifts as they rounded the tables.

Prepping For the Wedding at the French Farmhouse Venue

One thing that is apparent in many Vietnamese weddings is the importance of family. Ty and Victoria’s wedding was no exception! Now, just because family is present, doesn’t mean a formal photo is required for each family that is there. In a multicultural Vietnamese wedding, however, you definitely take formal family photos at the wedding. And lots of them!

Family formal portraits can often eat up a lot of the wedding timeline on the wedding day if it hasn’t been properly planned out. In fact, each family setup can easily take 1-2 minutes. Multiply that by 30 different family setups, and you are looking at a full hour scheduled for family photos.

To help reduce the time spent taking formal portraits, Nathan and I took time to speak with Ty and Victoria prior to the wedding. We usually connect with our couples at least 3-4 times prior to the wedding after booking, with our last get-together focused solely on nailing down some major details. In this case, we were all proactive and planned out a shot-for-shot list of all the families that will be present so we could take all photos efficiently.

Memorable Moments

Nathan and I often reflect on each wedding to try and remember moments and different things that stick with us. One of our favorite personal touches was the calligraphy in all the signage and the invitations. These weren’t done by any particular vendor, but by the bride’s own sister, who is a calligrapher! We love it whenever services that are otherwise provided by a vendor have even more significance because of the personal touch that goes into it. As a gift Ty and Victoria even sent us over a cutting board put together by Victoria’s Sister that had been engraved with our names.

Nathan and I also adored the ivory and baby blue color palette and the beautiful florals that were provided by Kathy Hollingsworth. The color choices were wonderful compliments to the bright and spacious rooms of the French Farmhouse.

This was easily one of our favorite weddings to happen in 2022, and we’re so grateful to the fantastic vendors who helped pull off Victoria and Ty’s wedding. Thank you, to each one of you!
