It’s not everyday that you marry the love of your life.  When it comes to hiring a photographer, many couples aren’t sure how many hours you should book a photographer for. The way Zoey and I have built out our collections, we recommend no less than 6 hours of coverage.

Wedding Photography Coverage

Our clients look at their wedding coverage not in terms of “what is the most wedding photographs I can get in the least amount of time” but what will give them the best wedding experience possible. That’s why we’ve built our collections to hit on a variety of experiences our couples love. Let’s break down our suggested hours of wedding photography coverage.

6 Hours of Wedding Day Photography Coverage

Just because this is the least amount of coverage, does not mean it is not a great experience. For couples who don’t want to have massive receptions or are ok with missing out on the first hours of their morning (before they have hair and makeup), this is usually a great fit. We typically see these experiences booked for small elopements and other small, intimate weddings.

While it doesn’t hit all parts of your day, it allows for capturing a few wedding detail images, family portraits, the wedding ceremony, and couples portraits.

Things to consider

  • With it only being 6 hours coverage, there won’t be as many detail photos as there would be in either a day with 8 hours or full wedding day coverage.
  • If you include a large number of family portraits, this can easily take up ⅙ of your wedding photography.

8 Hours of Wedding Day Photography Coverage

Our 8-hour coverage is perfect for our couples who want a wedding photographer to capture more details of the wedding ceremony and reception – from getting the hair and makeup done to the cake cutting.

Things to consider

  • 8 hours may be just a little short for getting a real “grand exit” photo. So you may want to consider doing that part of the reception sooner rather than later.
  • Although 8 hours may seem like a lot of time, if there is any travel between the ceremony and the wedding reception, you can easily eat up your wedding coverage due to travel time.

Full Day Wedding Day Photography Coverage

This one is our favorite because Zoey and I get to be with you from the start of your day until you leave! We’re not just talking about getting ready photos – we’re talking about a slowed down day where we can be more intentional with each other and enjoy each other’s company. It allows Zoey and I to get to know your wedding party more and it’s hard to miss anything.

First look – check. Sunset photos – check. Rain popped up during the time the sunset photos were supposed to happen so we run in the rain with you instead? Check. Party goes until 10PM and then you drunkenly run to the limo waiting for you at the grand exit? Check.

Things to consider

  • If your getting ready, ceremony, and reception venue locations are not in the same place, we 100% recommend you go this route. We’re not worrying about how much coverage you have left – we’re just enjoying the day.
  • This is ideal for anyone having a grand exit. While some couples may opt-in for a “fake” grand exit, many of your guests will think it’s the real deal and jet out of there. This lets you keep it at the for real end of the night, so you can have a for real end of the night and a for real start to your marriage.
