At first we were rained out of setting out to sea. Then, we were all living it up at the bar, riding around in a Porsche, doing what Lorde says and went out to the tennis court.
Finally, after a weekend that spun our plans on our head, Gabriella and Andrew donned their sea wardrobe, and then we got out on a boat for these amazing sailboat engagement photos!
Sail Dallas
First off, we’re going to give BIG kudos, credits, love, and laughter to Sail Dallas for the amazing sailboat rental they provided for this session.
Thanks to them, they made having a sailboat engagement session possible!
By the time we were able to FINALLY get on the water, it had already been 3 days hanging out with Gabriella and Andrew. On the water that day, we had been hanging out with them so much that it felt less like an engagement session and more like the most epic friend hangout ever.
Maybe it’s the sea breeze blowing against their hair and clothes, or even the smell of salt in the air, but of the 3 days we had been shooting, this one had a different kind of electricity to it.
That could be because of the conductivity of salt water, but that’s a different conversation for another scientific day…and location because while I love a good sea breeze we have a sad shortage of salt water in the Dallas area.
I think anyone looking at their engagement session on this boat could tell that they were more comfortable being in front of the camera than the previous days – though there was never any “discomfort” throughout this whole process.
More specifically, I think it’s that there is less uncertainty in their eyes.
The two of them genuinely leaned into each other during this session, while Zoey and I were fortunate enough to be on this trip with them.

Memorable Moments
Like I mentioned, by this time, it was less of an engagement session and more like a glorified hangout. We shared stories and memories on the boat and watched the sunset over the water as we spent the time with one another.
When looking back on this session, I think the timing of things couldn’t have been better.
The rain came in on the first day and changed our plans. Yet, it didn’t ruin anything. Instead, it gave us more opportunity and prepared us for the day on the water we had.
There isn’t any “topping” one engagement session from another. It would be disingenuous for Zoey or I to make those kinds of comparisons. However, what I can say is this was truly a unique experience that we wish we could experience with all clients.
Gabriella and Andrew, thank you SO MUCH for allowing us to share this time with you. We can’t wait to share the next part of your story – your wedding!
