You wake up – it’s your wedding day. Before heading to your venue at DEC on Dragon in Dallas, TX, you freshen up a little bit for the day. Rather than going right into the day, you take time to relax in your pajamas with your partner and just “be” for a moment.
That’s exactly how our day started with AJ and Hunter. AJ is a detailed individual, and she knew leading up to her wedding, she would have every detail planned.
The one thing we knew to include in her wedding timeline was to start the day off easy and just be.
After a few minutes of rest, the day was in full swing! We soon found ourselves heading to one of Dallas’s best wedding venues!

About DEC on Dragon Street
Located at 1414 Dragon St, Dallas, TX in the Dallas Design District, you’ll find one of Texas’s most upscale event spaces! If you’re wanting a beautiful rooftop view of the Dallas skyline, then you found THE PLACE to be!
Zoey and I are fans of the venue for so many reasons, but I think it ultimately comes down to we feel famous there! Ha! Jokes aside, this is a cool venue that has been featured on shows like Shark Tank, Love is Blind, and RHO Dallas. Getting married here definitely gives you some bragging rights for awesomeness.
The rooftop view isn’t the only thing worth mentioning here though. Many couples are drawn here for a few things:
- 12-foot ceilings
- retro-modern interiors
- A built in stage
- Built-in bar
- open floor plan
- etc.
Depending on the setup of your wedding and reception, DEC on Dragon capacity ranges from 150 to 400 guests. Either way, there is plenty of space to have one of the most epic wedding in Dallas!
If you are a couple looking for a unique wedding experience, this is where you want to be.
AJ + Hunter’s Detailed Wedding at DEC on Dragon
Sometimes we can’t believe we get paid to arrive at a wedding and click a button! I guess, when one thinks about it, there is more to it.
First we have pre-planning.
Then double-check on the pre-planning.
Creating an immaculately detailed wedding timeline so we didn’t miss a detail or moment.
Sharing the plan with the involved vendors.
Meeting with the wedding planner (aka. Zoey’s best friend!).
…
Yeah, it’s work – but wow we love it.
As I’ve already alluded to, this was a DETAILED wedding! Ask Zoey and I one thing about weddings, and we’ll both agree that details make the difference!
When Zoey and I arrived at their hotel (Virgin Hotels), we got to work. They were all couple-cutesy as they snuggled in bed together and popped champagne together.
From there, we met up with RWN Beauty and the bridesmaids for hair and makeup, got dressed for the wedding, and make our way to DEC on Dragon.
The Ceremony on the DEC on Dragon Rooftop
Rooftop weddings are always exquisite. Add the Dallas Skyline as the backdrop, and you’re in one of the most beautiful settings in existence. (A totally not-biased opinion from a Dallas resident)
One thing I have failed to mention so far – AJ and Hunter are Capital OBSESSED with their dog Wyatt. He’s pretty much their child. Naturally, they would include him in the ceremony. We can all agree that kids are cute, but having a dog be a ring bearer will always be top-tier.
Now – combine the two together with a kid guiding the dog on a lead to “bring forth the rings” and you have the best combo to exist.
Watching Wyatt wag his tail down the aisle will probably remain one of my favorite parts of the day.
Memorable Moments
If anything sticks out about this wedding, I think it’s the way the two work together. Opposites attract, even though it doesn’t make sense.
Someone who loves Harry Potter finds someone who doesn’t, and then they marry each other. (Of course, the one who doesn’t like it learns they are wrong and soon loves Harry Potter too.)
In this case, it was fun to see how AJ and Hunter took the time to choreograph their first dance.
I don’t have data to back me up, but I’m 99.9% sure that Taylor Swift is the top artist played at weddings right now.
AJ and Hunter didn’t just “Shake It Off” with each other though. She was able to honor her mom with a choreographed dance with her as well. That’s always sweet to see.
Everyone danced, partied, laughed, cried, and everything in between on their wedding night! And when the night was finally over, they hopped in the antique car provided by Toast and Coast and drove off into marriage!
